Sicilian 800 Silver "Mis Medusa" Award Trophy
Item Details
An Italian 800 silver award. This trophy is inscribed upon one side ‘Mis Medusa 1971 Furci Siculo (ME)’. Furci Siculo is an area of the Sicilian city of Messina. There is a classical statuette atop the domed lid of a man holding aloft a torch, and there are three applied duck figurines around the flared lip of the urn-shaped trophy. It is presented upon a black marble base, and marked ‘800’ ‘St’. The total approximate weight of the lid and the bowl, without the marble base, is 5.78 ozt.
Condition
- some overall minor surface wear including discoloration, tarnishings and scratches; the lid is distorted and heavily bent; pen marking iside reads “388”.
