Jewelry Box with Needlepoint of "The Gleaners" by Jean-Francois Millet

Item Details

A jewelry box with a needlepoint of The Gleaners by Jean-Francois Millet. The Gleaners was originally an oil painting by Jean-François Millet. It was completed in 1857 and has been studied throughout the centuries as a literal and metaphorical depiction of the struggles of peasant life. In this scene, we see three women do the backbreaking job of picking up stray wheat that was left behind during the initial harvest. The box has a wooden exterior with a resin knob. The interior is a yellow velvet with a mirror inside the lid.
