An oil painting on linen titled Triangulation Series No 23 by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York b. 1954). Executed during 2007-2008, this work depicts pastel geometric shapes. Within the composition is a pattern that resembles friction ridges found in figure prints with red paint splatter over top. A green horizontal isosceles triangle painted over the composition and is a contrast to the orange tone along the bottom. This piece is signed and dated in the lower right corner in red paint. To the verso, the title, artist, medium, and year are present in black ink. Hanging hardware is installed to the verso.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
