A collection of books on Persian and Asian art that includes first editions. Featured is the first edition of Master Artists Of the Imperial Mughal Court edited by Pratapaditya Pal (Marg Publications, Bombay, 1991). The volume is illustrated in color and black-and-white. The dust jacket depicts the scene of Prince and Courtiers At Camp attributed to Payag. The first edition of Persian Miniature Paintings with text by Maurice S. Dimand features full color tipped in plates suitable for framing. This folio is part of the Gallery Of Art Series (The Uffici Press, Milan, 1956). An unbound, cut volume entitled Chinese Porcelain and Hard Stones, by Edgar Gorer and J.F. Blacker, features loose plates of ceramic and glyptic art (Bernard Quaritch, London, 1911). The plates appear to be offset lithographs of the original plates. The edition was limited to 1000 copies of which this is number 224. Other titles included are Osaka Prints, Ukiyo-E: 250 Years Of Japanese Art, and Suzuki Harunobu.
Condition
Shelf wear is consistent with age. One volume is unbound with missing plates being evident.
