An oil painting on canvas titled Lamparos by well-listed French artist Jean Maxime Relange (b. 1938). This work features an abstracted scene of night fishers (lamparo fishing) with figures in boats approaching a dense fishing zone in the water. With vibrant colors, thick gestural brushstrokes, and abstract formations, the artist’s work recalls the Abstract Expressionist style of the mid-20th century. The work is signed in black to the lower right. A descriptive label from Gault Galleries is adhered to the verso. Handwriting to the verso includes the artist’s name, title, and address.
