Item Details

A room-sized hand-knotted Indian Nizam area rug. The rug features a central diamond medallion in a palette of taupe, beige, brown, cream, powder pink, steel blue and white. The medallion is surrounded by several compound borders of flower and tree and of life guls in a matching palette that lead to four deep red spandrels at each corner. The spandrels are enclosed by a compound resolved border in a burnt red palette with floral and arabesque line work throughout. The rug features a long cotton fringe to either end, overcast edges, and it is marked to the back ‘Hand Woven in India, Genuine Nizam, Pure Woolen Pile, 8413126’.
