Dora McCollister Original Signed Oil Painting on Academy Board

An original mid-20th century on canvas academy board painting by reputed Ohio artist Dora G. McCollister (1860-1945). The painting depicts a simple home painted in thick, thoughtful strokes of lavender, pale pink, white, and teal paint. Trees and bushes line the home, playful shadows across the scene. The piece is initialed to the lower right corner and is presented without matting or framing. It is marked ‘773a’ in ink to the verso. McCollister graduated from the Columbus School of Art and Design in 1932 and was the first fine arts graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design of Sarasota, Florida, in April 1937.
