Collection of Henriot Quimper Tableware
Item Details
A collection of Henriot Quimper tableware from the collection of David Whitney, a prominent member of the New York art community in the late 20th century. This eleven piece collection includes four teacups, four saucers, one covered cheese keeper and a large serving bowl. One teacup has a hexagonal form, with each panel adorned with an illustration of a woman holding flowers facing left, a man holding a fishing pole facing right or floral designs, and a looped handle with a large rest, sponged in green glaze. The other teacups have hand-painted floral designs, and some have the same woman or man illustration, with looped French handles. Also included is a covered cheese keeper, adorned with orange flowers and a fisherman design, with slightly fluted sides; and a large, scalloped bowl, painted with a central design of a woman holding flowers, between two tall blue and orange floral embellishments. These pieces are each marked ‘Henriot Quimper’.
Condition
- repair is visible on the bowl, chipping on the rims of other items.
