An original oil painting on canvas by Dayton, Ohio artist Dr. Sophocles Karl Spyridon (1925-2011). The painting depicts a curving road cutting through a picturesque small town, painted in a charming naïve hand. Brightly colored buildings line the street, highlighted by a tall red church steeple. The painting is signed twice, once in ink and once in paint, to the lower right corner. The painting is presented in a simple natural-stained wooden frame with a hanging wire. Spyridon was a dental implant specialist by trade, but enjoyed woodworking and carving in his free time. In the early 2000s, Spyridon took a painting class with his daughter and found a love for the medium, creating an impressive body of work over the span of less than a decade.
