Carol Summers "California" Lithographic Exhibition Poster

A lithographic exhibition poster featuring artwork titled, California, by the renowned American printmaker, Carol Summers (b.1925), who is best known for his boundary-pushing woodcut printing techniques, as well as his vivid, yet abstract landscape scenes, often comprised of very vibrant color palettes. The exhibition was held August 6th through September 25th of 1977 at The Brooklyn Museum in New York, which contained a large collection of woodcut prints all created by Carol Summers. This particular lithograph features a print of one of Carol’s works titled, California, depicting a red upper half with a blue lower half with to arches where the colors meet, which also features two purple stripes and a large yellow blotch to the lower half as well. In addition, there is various information text regarding the exhibition written along the top and bottom margins. The print is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
