An original oil painting on canvas by Dayton, Ohio artist Dr. Sophocles Karl Spyridon (1925-2011). This charming painting depicts a stout red home nestled on the side of a hill coated in a brilliant blanket of vibrant wildflowers and shrubs. A small body of water sits at the base of the hill, backed by a softly glowing yellow sky with striated blue clouds. Signed in paint to lower right, this work is presented in a wooden frame with gold tone finish, piped inner trim, and a hanging wire. Spyridon was a dental implant specialist by trade, but enjoyed woodworking and carving in his free time. In the early 2000s, Spyridon took a painting class with his daughter and found a love for the medium, creating an impressive body of work over the span of less than a decade.
