An abstract acrylic painting on canvas by listed artist George Lewis. This work features a pastel purple composition accented with strips of vibrant colors haphazardly placed across the canvas. Narrow strips reveal layers of pigment underneath the purple ground; the arbitrary clusters of intersecting strips create an overall non-objective, spontaneous composition. The work is signed in white to the lower left. Presented in a silver-tone metal frame, it is ready to hang with picture wire to the verso. Handwriting to the verso reads ‘cat #80.40’ and includes the artist’s name and medium.
