Cityscape Etchings by Willy Scholz and John Taylor Arms
Item Details
A pair of cityscape etchings by Willy Scholz and John Taylor Arms. The Scholz piece is a vintage engraving to illustrate a narrow city street with a towering church spire in the distance by Willy Scholz (German 1899-1965). Signed by the artist in the lower right corner and finished under glass with a wide beige linen mat and a thin distressed gold frame. The Arms piece is an original drypoint etching with aquatint by well listed artist John Taylor Arms, Jr. (1887 – 1953). This etching is titled at the bottom center as “The Bravest City in The World,” and would appear to feature a view of the capitol building presumably from the Potomac. This etching is presented in a wooden frame with black paint and a single white mat to edge.
