A signed original acrylic on wood panel folk art painting by American folk artist Mose Tolliver (1925-2006). A brown cat stands against a light pink background with its tail raised in this folk art acrylic painting. Signed ‘Mose T’ to the lower center for Mose Tolliver, the painting is presented unframed with hanging hardware to the verso. Born in Alabama, Tolliver became a painter after a work accident left his legs severely injured. A self-taught artist, Tolliver’s works have been exhibited at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Philadelphia College of Art, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. A certificate of authenticity from the LD Co. Art and Antiques store stating the painting was originally purchased from Tolliver himself is included with the painting.
