A collection of vintage zoology books from the 1930s and 1940s. These seven illustrated zoology books, many including color illustrations, are The Red Book of Birds of America and The Green Book of Birds of America by Frank Ashbrook and Paul Moller (Racine, WI: Whitman, 1931); James Gilchrist Lawson’s The Book of Dogs: Photographs and Descriptions of the 103 Leading Breeds, ‘including all breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club’ (Chicago: Rand McNally & Company, 1935); American Wild Life Illustrated, compiled by the Writer’s Program of the Work Projects Administration (1940); Roger Tory Peterson’s A Field Guide to the Birds (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1947); and Know Your Ducks and Geese (Minneapolis: Sports Afield Publishing Company, 1948). In addition, this collection contains a facsimile of the first issue of The Audubon Magazine, reprinted as a supplement to the March 1987 Audubon to commemorate the magazine’s centennial.

- binding breaking on A Field Guide to the Birds and _Birds You Should Know; exterior front hinge breaking on American Wild Life Illustrated; binding damage and previous black adhesive tape repair to The Book of Dogs; covers detached from binding on Birds of America books; pages no longer bound together on The Red Book of Birds of America; some contemporary inscriptions and annotations; foxing; general wear consistent with age and use.
