Oliver Albertson Original Vintage Oil Painting on Canvas

An original mid-20th century oil painting on canvas by listed American artist Oliver Albertson. The painting depicts a tall-masted ship docked along the edge of a wooden dock and boat house. A pale blue body of water extends into the space surrounding the boat, and a cloudy sky looms overhead. The painting is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a wooden frame with speckled gold tone finish and a hanging wire. Albertson specialized in maritime imagery, though this piece is a departure from the more formal schooner profiles he is best-known for.
Condition
- heavy craquelure and accretion across painting, including a long brown horizontal streak to right edge of painting. 1.5" rip to left center edge of piece, and a small hole is poked a few inches above this. Dark blue paint used on body of ship has faded away curiously.
