Vintage Embellished Velvet Military Guard Coat
Item Details
A vintage embellished velvet military guard coat. The long-sleeved black velvet coat features a stand-up collar. The waistband and collar are red, with round silver tone studs, which form a looped swag-like border at the hem. The sleeves are also decorated with the same silver tone embellishments. The coat is labeled ‘M.C. Lilley & Co.’ along with a stenciled note, ‘GUARD’ on the bottom of the fabric label. The inside of the coat is lined in a loosely woven blue and white striped fabric.
Condition
- collar is very frayed and worn
- velvet shows wear throughout; lining shows stains
- seam on left shoulder is split; right shoulder seam on the outside is gone
- some of the silver-tone metal embellishments may be missing
- stains to lining
