1970s Gary Schildt "Lewis and Clark Exploration" Porcelain Decanters
Item Details
A set of four 1972 Gary Schildt Lewis and Clark Exploration porcelain decanters designed by listed Blackfeet sculptor Gary Schildt (1938). Pieces include Capt. William Clark, Toussaint Charbonneau, Meriwether Lewis and Sacajawea. The painted figural decanters are signed and dated in the mold to the back of each piece. The bases of three decanters include a foil sticker to the front that reads ‘Lewis & Clark, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey’. The pieces are stamped to the underside with ‘Designed Exclusively by Gary Schildt for Lewis and Clark Exploration Commemorative Series, Genuine Royal Crown Porcelain, 1972, Alpha Industries Inc’. The items come with original box, as well as decorative Lewis and Clark ‘LC’ monogram collector’s box, designed to resemble an antique trunk.
Condition
- one decanter missing from original five-decanter set; light wear and residue to items with age; set comes with original packaging; Sacajawea decanter is missing foil sticker to base.
