Intricate 19th century miniature painting of Chinese man in traditional costume painted with gouache on paper. The detail of this tiny work of art is amazing. The young student sitting at a desk with his instrument is dressed in a purple in a shading that pops off the page. The close up of his face reveals the care taken to give the figure realistic shades of color that enhance his happy expression. This portrait has the added background of the ornate green and pink rug under the boys feet. Housed loosely in a small frame. This portrait has a frame on the paper with a blue silk zig zag trim with tiny white flowers.
