A hand knotted Caucasian area rug, having Karabagh elements in the large ‘x’ forms to the field. The rug has been created in shades of off white, indigo, camel, and tomato red. The intricate pattern includes large Kube-Like ‘x’ forms with eight-pointed star motifs and stylized foliate designs, stars, hooks, and geometric shapes which are reiterated in the complex borders. It has a primary almond blossom border and guard borders of eight-pointed stars and diagonal elements in the same colors. It has a loose weave, blue weft, and soft, natural wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.

Condition

Loss of fringe. Some unraveling at the ends.
