Bronze Figural Group of a Zaporozhian Cossack After Battle by Evgeni Alexandrovich Lanceray

A bronze figural group after a model by Evgeni Lanceray (Russian, 1848-1886). Produced in three separate castings, and with bolts to the underside, cast in a dark, consistent patina. Signed to the base in Cyrillic and with N. Shtange foundry stamp, also to base casting. A fine example after the model by Lanceray, Russian sculptor, and a quintessential 19th century Russian subject.
Nikolai Shtange foundry acquired several of the original Lanceray models in 1893, including Zaporozhian Cossack after Battle.
Condition
- some protruding elements of the casting bent, otherwise with nice uniform patina.

- base is 15.5″ × 25″ of actual sculpture.
