Chinese Ceramic Footbath

Item Details

A Chinese ceramic footbath. It has an oval shape with two handles on the tapered ends. The interior of the vessel is decorated with koi fish swimming among aquatic plants. The exterior has a yellow border at the top. It is adorned with crests and animal figures. The underside is marked ’Yong sheng tang zhi” (永勝堂製), the hallmark of the Yongsheng (Eternal Victory) Ornamented Porcelain Factory (永勝彩瓷廠), which started to produce wares in the early Republic (1912-1949) in Hong Kong, and possibly mainland China as well.
