A hand colored engraving after the original painting by Edwin Henry Landseer titled A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society (1831). It features a majestic Newfoundland sitting on a concrete dock while looking out over the sea. White gulls swirl in gloomy clouds over his head. The piece is hand colored with soft tones of brown, gray, and red. It depicts ‘Bob’, a dog who survived a shipwreck off the coast of England and later saved twenty-three people from drowning. For his efforts, the dog was inducted into the Royal Humane Society.
