An oil painting on canvas titled Chaland de Charbon (Coal Barge) by Gertrude O’Brady (1904-1985). The item is housed in a wooden frame with hanging wire present to the verso. A pair of labels, including one from Raydon Gallery, NY and an artist’s biography are also attached to the verso.

Gertrude O’Brady only began to paint in later age, and was regarded as a naive painter. She O’Brady was in France during World War II, and was placed in a concentration camp toward the end of the War. She continued to work after being released until death in 1985.

Condition

- minor scuffing present to the frame; mild overall accretions to surface of piece, likely due to dust and dirt.
