"Cherokee Park" by Harvey Joiner

An oil painting on academy board by listed artist Harvey Joiner (1852 – 1932), likely depicting Cherokee Park in Kentucky. Signed in the lower left corner with artist plaque on frames liner. Housed in the original shadow box frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Harvey Joiner was a beloved Kentucky artist, who primarily worked in Louisville, with a brief stint in Colorado. He spent most of his time in Cherokee Park, where he fashioned his characteristic summer and fall landscapes. A number of Joiner’s paintings ended up in shadow box frames such as the example offered here.

Condition

- a mild craquelure of vertical lines present to the piece; mild scuffing, scratching, and discoloration to the frame.
