Elegant Room-Sized Hand Knotted Indo-Nain Area Rug

An elegant, room-sized hand knotted Indo-Nain carpet. This rug has a ivory central multi-point star pendant medallion, in a palette of bright and indigo blues, orange, apricot, chartreuse and taupe, with lotus and Shah Abassi points to the outside. The medallion sits on a deep indigo blue field populated with arabesques of scrolled split leaves, detailed trident leaf forms, filler palmettes and clusters of dates. The corner spandrels echo the star pendant design, topped with a large palmette accented in orange and ruby red. It has a complex and ornate compound floral and foliate border, with a primary border in deep sapphire blue echoing the lotus and Shah Abassi palmettes of the field, with pairs of date clusters in a tawny orange. The rug has overcast edges and a short, neatly trimmed cotton warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
