Salvador Dalí Wood Engraving "Purgatory Canto 2: The Ship of Souls"

A wood engraving on BFK Rives fine printmaking paper from the French edition after a watercolor from famed Spanish Surrealist Salvador Dali’s (1904-1989) highly-famed series The Divine Comedy. This print is titled Purgatory Canto 2: The Ship of Souls. It depicts several shadowy figures in a boat crossing a gray body of water as a tall angel-like figure stands rowing at the head of the vessel. The print is from an edition of 150 signed in red colored pencil by an unknown hand in 1960; it is number 68 from the edition. The print is matted in white and presented behind glass in a composite frame with cast embellishments and seamless corners. A gallery tag of information is attached to the verso, along with a hanging wire.
