Signed Hand Woven Persian Tabriz Room-Size Area Rug
Item Details
A hand woven wool room-size area rug attributed to the Tabriz city of Iran. It features a red central medallion with pendants against an ivory field ornately covered with an arabesque design. To the corners, there are large turmeric yellow palmettes. Enclosing the field, there is a persimmon orange border with alternating blue palmettes which is flanked by a pair of turquoise blue guard borders. In a cartouche to one of the guard borders, it is signed in Arabic which translates to ‘Tadbbbiri’ or ‘Tabdeen.’ Either side finishes with a small tassel fringe.
