Antique William Giller Original Engraving After a William Barraud Painting

An antique William Giller engraving after a William Barraud painting titled Sir Thomas Drake on Patchwork. This original aquatint etching by William Giller (England, c. 1805 – 1870) after a painting by William Barraud (England, 1810 – 1850), depicts Sir Thomas Drake in a long red tailcoat astride his white horse to the foreground. Other riders and several hunting dogs are to the left of the composition. The lower left margin reads, “Painted by William V. Henry Barraud.” The center reads, “Oxford Published by Ryman July 1st 1846.” The lower right margin reads, “Engraved by William Giller.” It is professionally presented under triple mats of black, deep red, and cream in a walnut frame. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- yellowing consistent with age. The frame is in good condition with only minor marks to the edges.

Measurement taken of the frame. The print image is 25" wide x 19" high.
