Three limited edition lithographs on paper titled Pink Venus Kiki by well-listed California splatter-stain artist Sam Francis (1923-1994) and titled I Love You On My Bed / Cleopatra by well-listed Chinese-American artist and poet Walasse Ting (1929-2010) and titled Give Me A Kiss by well-listed CoBrA artist Karel Appel (1921-2006) respectively (page103-106) from the ‘One Cent Life’ Portfolio of Pop Art Lithographs written by well-listed Chinese-American artist and poet Wallace Ting (1929-2010) and edited by well-listed American painter Sam Francis, created in 1964. The image printed by Maurice Beaudet in Paris depicts a composition of large splatters connected with smaller sprays in red, yellow, blue, and green. At the bottom of the page is a poem written by Francis printed. On the verso, there are two compositions, one circular with a black phallic shape to the center with the word ‘Cleopatra’ to the lower right and the other a clear face with words all around it and a poem written by Wallace Ting and printed by George Girard to the bottom.
This is lithograph is number 435 in an edition of 2000 taken from the unbound elephant-folio. The portfolio was published in an edition of 2000 by E.W. Kornfeld in Bern, Switzerland where 100 editions were reserved for New York, Paris, and participants. This lithograph comes from a collection of 62 lithographs and serigraphs in colors on BFK Rives paper by 28 masters of Pop Art and COBRA movements. The portfolio includes work by Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana, Tom Wesselmann and many more. The print comes with a certificate of authenticity. Presented without frame or matting. The Sam Francis lithograph is included in the Catalogue Raisonné, “The Prints of Sam Francis: A Catalogue Raisonné 1960-1990: LITHOGRAPHS Vol I” by Connie W. Lembark, catalogue number Lembark L-82 on pages 142-143.
