A lithographic poster signed in print from The Cone Collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art featuring artwork titled, The Purple Robe circa 1937, by highly esteemed French artist, Henri Matisse (1869-1954), who is best known for his original, fluid draughtsmanship, as well as his use of color. Matisse is also responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture techniques during the 20th Century. This print depicts a still life portrait featuring a woman wearing a purple robe with white stripes, who is sitting on a chair behind a small pedestal table with a large floral arrangement sitting on top, as well as several pieces of fruit. The entire piece has a very colorful palette including shades of red, orange, yellow, teal, purple, pink, grey, black, and white. The print is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
