Offset Lithograph Print, "The Red Pickup"

Item Details

An offset lithograph print, after an original oil painting titled The Red Pickup, by well-listed Roswell, New Mexico artist Peter Hurd (American, 1904-1984). The offset lithograph print depicts a red pickup truck driving toward a lonely farmhouse, through an open, southwest desert landscape, with mountains and storm clouds in the distance. The title of the print and the artist’s name are printed in the white border area, to the lower left. The artist’s signature and the date ‘1967’ appear within the print to the lower left. To the lower right border, the print is marked ‘[copyright symbol] San Patricio Artists, Inc. – Roswell, New Mexico’. The print is presented under glass in a narrow brown wood frame, and is ready to hang. Peter Hurd studied art under famed illustrator N. C. Wyeth, and was later married to Wyeth’s daughter, Henriette. He was appointed by President Dwight Eisenhower to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and served for four years, from 1959 to 1963. The artist’s portrait of President Lyndon Johnson hangs in the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian.
