Cassandre Hand-Pulled Lithographic Art Deco "Nord-Express" Poster
Item Details
An original 1927 hand-pulled lithograph poster created by well-listed Ukranian-French designer Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, known more commonly by his pseudonym Cassandre (1901 – 1968). The poster was designed to advertise the European train line Nord-Express, but was never published and used commercially. The poster prominently features Cassandre’s famed ‘Acier Noir’ typeface set against a simplified illustration of a train. The artist’s signature and the date are printed in-plate to the upper right. The poster is presented behind non-glare glass in a beveled metal frame with glossy red finish and a hanging wire.
