Kay Muir Original Oil Painting on Canvas

An original mid-century oil on canvas painting by well-loved Cincinnati artist Kay Muir (1913-2008). The curious painted depicts a vivid yellow silhouetted figure standing in a knee-deep reflective body of water. Thin black tree-like forms frame the figure, casting ominous reflections into the water below. The emotive and mysterious painting is signed in gray paint to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden slat frame with black finish. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging. Muir studied at the University of Michigan and then the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where she worked with local legends such as Paul Chidlaw. Muir’s work is part of the permanent collections of the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Dayton Art Institute. More information about the artist can be found under Additional Information.
