A pair of recent books by contemporary American writers Aleksandar Hemon and Ryan Gattis. The Book of My Lives, by the Bosnian-born American writer Aleksandar Hemon (1964- ), is his first non-fiction work. The MacArthur fellow’s memoir of the first half of his life in Sarajevo, and then his exile in America, also includes essays on various issues. This first edition, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 2013, is signed by the author. All Involved is Colorado novelist Ryan Gattis’s most recent book. It takes as its setting the 1992 Los Angeles riots. This edition was published in 2015 by Picador, an imprint of Pan Macmillan. The book is signed by the author and comes in a cardboard slipcase marked ‘All Involved.’
