A first edition of The Pied Piper Of Hamelin with illustrations by Kate Greenaway. Written by Robert Browning, this volume features 35 illustrations by Greenaway and engraved and printed in colors by Edmund Evans (George Routledge and Sons, Broadway, Ludgate Hill: Glasgow, Manchester and New York, 1888). A Kate Greenaway Medal for distinguished illustrations in children’s books was established in 1955 in honor of the author’s contributions to children’s literature. The book has a pictorial front cover and a red cloth spine. The endpapers are teal.
Condition
Shelf wear to the cover is consistent with age. The sewn binding is loose in places, slight foxing, and pencil marking on the endpaper is evident.
