Original A.B. Holte Painting "Scottish Fishing"

An original Arthur Brandish Holte (fl.1883 – 1894) oil on canvas painting. Holte is a well listed artist, and this painting is typical of his finest work. The painting is entitled ‘Scottish Fishing,’ as is signified by the brass plaque to the bottom center edge of the frame. The artist has depicted a fabulously pastoral image of a man and his wife fly fishing in a beautiful stream lit by the sun. Holte has effectively painted the translucence of the water. The painting is wonderfully suggestive but extremely effective in its description of the landscape. The painting is signed by the artist to the bottom right hand corner, and is presented in a fabulous gilt wood frame, likely original.

Good-Fair, wear consistent with age, considering, this painting is in fabulous shape.
