Luigi Kasimir Signed Aquatint Etching "Freiburg Cathedral"

A vintage original etching with a la poupée aquatint coloring by well-listed Austrian-born etcher and painter Luigi Kasimir (New York/California; 1881 – 1962), titled Freiburg Cathedral. The image depicts an incredible scene of the famous German landmark towering against the sky, dwarfing the figures that mill about in the street below. Artist signature is signed in pencil to the lower center. The print is mounted behind complementing triple mat, under glass in a wood frame with a reeded gold leaf finish. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the colored etching. He demonstrated a predisposition for monuments and street scenes, as is demonstrated in this image, as his interpretation of proportion, linear perspective and detail are uncanny.

- light foxing and discoloration throughout print. Light wear to finish of frame.
