Item Details
An authorized edition poster print titled Moonrise, Fernandez, New Mexico, 1941 after Ansel Adams, copyright 1995 by the Trustees of The Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust. Published by Little, Brown and Company, Boston, New York and London. Designed by Pentagram. The print is reproduced with the highest quality standards and included the official embossed Ansel Adams authorized edition seal to the back. Ansel Adams (American, 1902-1984), shot the photograph Moonrise, Fernandez, New Mexico, 1941 while under contract with the Department of the Interior, traveling with both his son Michael and best friend Cedric Wright. According to Adams’ account in U.S. Camera Annual 1943, ‘It was made after sundown, there was a twilight glow on the distant peaks and clouds. The average light values of the foreground were placed on the ’U’ of the Weston Master meter; apparently the values of the moon and distant peaks did not lie higher than the ‘A’ of the meter … Some may consider this photograph a ‘tour de force’ but I think of it as a rather normal photograph of a typical New Mexican landscape. Twilight photography is unfortunately neglected; what may be drab and uninteresting by daylight may assume a magnificent quality in the half-light between sunset and dark’.
