Vintage Handwoven Western Anatolian Yagçibedir Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage handwoven western Anatolian Yagçibedir area rug. This rug has a fine, lustrous wool in rich scarlet red, black and bright white, and features a large central stepped medallion, capped with a hooked form to either end. It has a stylized star floral motifs with smaller hooked elements and scrolled florets to each end. The corner spandrels and filled with lappet-style forms, and the field is framed in black and red checked guard borders. The primary border features bisected florets and ‘hashed’ forms in red on a white field, outlined in black. It has a small indigo blue and chocolate brown kilim skirt and trimmed wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
