An original watercolor painting on paper by listed artist Vera Bassett (United Kingdom; 1922 – 1997), circa 1970, depicting an atmospheric hillside landscape heavily populated with trees and vegetation and a few scattered dwellings. Two figures fish in a pond near the bottom of the pictorial space. The composition is rendered in loose, nebulous marks and shapes, with indeterminate edges oscillating in and out of focus. Artist signature is signed to the lower right. The painting is mounted behind glass, under a linen liner and white wood fillet in a beveled weathered wood frame with a pickled finish.

Condition

- discoloration across painting. Liner is stained. Wear to fillet and frame.
