Needlepoint French Floral Area Rug

Item Details

A needlepoint French floral wool rug. It features a central field with sixty octagonal medallions of pastel-toned floral wreaths and bouquets on a black ground, with a gold and rose border. The rug is framed by a garland of assorted flowers on black ground, with an exterior border of a deep rusty-rose stripe. It has bound seams and is marked underneath, by hand, ‘MK ’87 28517’. Very finely made.

Condition

- a few threads pulling, but generally in very good shape. Stray threads and knots to the underside are a part of the handcrafting process.
