Vintage WW I Metal Civil Defense Air Raid Warden Helmet

Item Details

A civil defense helmet from the First World War. This piece is white in color, and features the logo of the ‘Air Raid Wardens’ whose job was to maintain and sound air raid sirens in case of enemy attacks. The piece is made from leather with a multitude of leather straps on the interior.

Condition

- minor flakes of paint missing from rim of hat; insignia of “Air Raid Warden” installed crooked; some oxidation around the rivets; internal liner intact but torn in some areas.
