1810 Facsimile Edition "Compleat Angler" with Fore-Edge Painting by Isaac Walton

An 1810 facsimile edition of The Complete Angler: Or, the Contemplative Man’s Recreation by Isaac Walton, published by S. Bagster, London. The book was originally published in 1653, and this edition contains that title pages with engraved carouche. The text is full bound in brown calf leather, with gilt tooling on the spine between the five bands. The front and back boards have impressed framing bands and tiny flowers; the endpapers are marbled. All edges are gilt, and the fore-edge has an applied painting of two men fishing; the painting is blurry, in greens, reds, and yellows.
