An original mixed media drawing by well-listed artist Nick Eggenhofer (1897-1985) titled Scouting Party. Eggenhofer was born in Bavaria, and moved to the United States in 1913. He was always enamored with the American West, and frequently created romantic works of art around the subject. This work shows a gathering of American Indians, each astride a majestic horse as the group discusses the wagon circle seen in the distance. For this work, Eggenhofer uses graphite, ink, and watercolor to bring the indigenous Americans to life. Signed in ink to lower right, this work is mounted beneath a layer of white matting, and is presented behind glass in a gilt frame with hanging wire present to verso.
