Nicholas Barbieri Mixed Media Painting

An original oil and acrylic painting on canvas by Nicholas Barbieri (American, 1942-2013). The abstract painting depicts various colored blotches surrounding text. It relies on the application of loose splotches of red, mustard yellow and black in order to build out a composition. Two spindly arms descend from the top, following various shades of paint spatter, and is flanked to the right by a cursive stanza, reading: ‘Goals for young girl. House, dog, baby’. This is repeated thrice. The canvas is stretched to a wooden frame. Unsigned.

Condition

- some wear to stretched canvas, especially at folded corners; some bleeding on backside of canvas.
