Collection of Vintage Red Feather Community Chest Volunteer Buttons

A large collection of vintage Red Feather Community Chest buttons. The group includes celluloid pin bach buttons, round metal tab buttons, and rectangular metal tab buttons. All are white with blue stars and red feathers with the pins having ‘Volunteer’ in blue across the centers. This was the symbol of charitable organizations around the arrival of the Baby Boomers. The Community Chest in Pittsburgh, PA handed these out as a donation thank you during times of money-raising campaigns and to the volunteers for appreciation. The Community Chest collected for multiple organizations and eventually evolved into the United Way.
