Paul Pollaro Limited Edition Collagraph on Paper "Queequeg"

A pencil signed limited edition collagraph on paper titled Queequeg by listed American artist Paul Pollaro (b. 1921) produced in 1965. Depicted is a man holding a harpoon with a red design on his face with fabric-like textures. Queequeg was a tattooed cannibal in Herman Melville’s novel Moby-Dick published in 1851. This piece is number 3 out of an edition of 12. The artist has signed and dated this piece by hand to the lower right corner, the title is placed in the bottom center, and the word ‘variations’ is written next to the edition number in the lower left. This piece comes presented under glass in a brown mat with an ornate gold tone frame. A horizontal hanging wire is installed and this piece is ready to be hung.
