Eighteenth Century Chinese Sewing Box and Accessories

An ornate late 18th-century Chinese sewing box. This wooden box features a rectangular form with chamfered corners and a slightly domed lid. It displays an intricate series of ornamentation. The exterior displays small scenes with frame cartouche, surrounded by a field of delicate foliate arabesques of varying forms. The top lid opens to reveal a segmented wooden organizational tray with delicate included carved bone thimbles and other accessories. This bears a lock, as does a lower pull out drawer with a central compartment with a hinged decorated lid. This includes a metal carrying handle upon each short end, however there is some suggestion that they are a later edition.
