A Civil War prisoner pardon pass. This pass was distributed by the Appomattox Court House in Virginia. It is dated April 10th, 1865. Theses passes were granted to prisoners of war taken by the Northern Virginia Army, allowing them to return home undisturbed after the surrender facilitated between Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that began the end of the American Civil War.
